Winter will soon be rearing its head again, and that means frigid temperatures and snowfall are sure to be sweeping across the region. During the winter, there is nothing more important to your home than your boiler system. Is yours ready to keep your home warm this season? Below, we’ve laid out a few tips to keep your boiler up to speed.

Check Boiler Filters

Just like with filters for your air conditioning unit, your boiler filters should remain clear so that warm air isn’t trapped. It’s always a good idea to check on this before the cold weather really sets in so you can take care of this ahead of time.

Inspect Your Boiler

You may not know the ins and outs of your boiler, but you can usually tell if something is amiss (outside of it just not turning on). Look around your boiler to see if you can spot any leaks, cracks, strange sounds, or anything else that seems to be out of the ordinary. If something comes up on your visual inspection, get in touch with G. A. Bove Fuels right away.

Turn Your Boiler on Before it Gets Cold

It’s a good idea to turn your boiler on before the cold sets in. Boilers may tense up (especially older units) after a long period of inactivity. Every once in a while, turn your boiler on just to ensure that everything is working as it should.

Keep Registers Open

These vents should always be kept open. If these are closed, your boiler will not be able to properly heat your home.

G. A. Bove Fuels is open 24/7, 365 days a year! If something happens with your boiler this season, there is no need to worry. We will always be there to get your heat back and your home comfortable once again.
